Registering to use the site
As either an ASME member or non-member, when you first access the CoP site you will need to register to establish your personal profile.
ASME Members
1. Click on the First Time ASME Member Login registration link on the CoP home page.
2. Enter your Last Name and ASME Member ID. Click on the Step 2 button when finished.
3. After your membership has been validated, your e-mail and address information will be displayed. Review the information that is returned to ensure that it is correct. If something is not correct, please make the appropriate adjustments.
4. Enter a password to use on the CoP web site in the Password field and re-type your password into the Confirm Password field. Click on the Submit Registration button when finished. You will be automatically logged into the CoP web site and taken to your Personal Page.
Non-ASME Members
1. Click on the Non-ASME Member Registration link on the CoP home page.
2. Please complete all fields available on the Non-Member Registration form.
3. Click the Submit Registration button. You will be automatically logged into the CoP web site and taken to your Personal Page.
Logging in after initial registration
The system uses a login procedure to protect you and the system from unauthorized access. Logging in gives you access to custom information on your personal and community pages.
1. In the email field, enter your email address.
2. In the password field, enter the password you chose during the initial registration process.
3. If you want this information to be automatically entered the next time you log in, click the Remember Me checkbox. (It is recommended that you don't choose this option if other people have access to your system.) Note: Your browser must accept cookies for this function to operate. Your browser's help materials should provide detailed information or you can review the Setting Your Browser to Accept Cookies in the Technical Requirements section of this Guide.
4. Click Login. Your Personal Page displays.
If you attempted to log in and received a request to try again, you should:
· Make sure you entered both fields correctly
· Click Forgot Password? link to have your password e-mailed to you. This works only if ASME has your current email address.
If you have selected the Remember Me checkbox but you are not automatically logged into the site when visiting it again, you should:
· Check to see that your browser is set to accept cookies
· Delete cookies and try logging in again
Need to retrieve a lost password?
If you can't recall your password, you can have it emailed to you.
1. Begin at the CoP Home Page.
2. Click Forgot Password? link.
3. Enter the Internet email address you provided to ASME upon your initial registration.
4. Click Submit. If the email address matches the address ASME has on file for you, your password will be emailed to you.
